What is Political Ecology?

Honestly, this is another one of the many things that I'm absolutely clueless about.
Let's begin by searching what Eco means in Latin...
And... It's French! Not Latin. In Latin it's oeco. With the simple meaning of 'environment.'

Political Environment

How does that resonate with me? Immediately the chaos of the Egyptian body politic comes to mind. 

I am an Egyptian. Now, we have a secular military complex general casting his bid for the presidency there and some opponent, (the loser, take it from me). His secularism does not afford him the freedom to renounce Islam and proclaim his agnosticism or atheism or conversion to Coptic orthodoxy. He is bound by the social conventions of his time and space. What a poor schmo. But let's not digress... 

Egypt is comprised of 80 million Muslims, 10 million Christians, and oh, probably 500,000 Jews. All of these denominations are your standard Semitic religions of old. All of them born on Mount Sinai. 

Believe you me there is no room in such a political ecological system for Tom Cruise and L. Ron Hubbard. 

So what does all this mean? 

That Allah, the prophet Mohammed, and Qur'an shall govern, and that ye shall not attempt to challenge this by arguing for abortion right, gay rights, a legal marijuana market, regulated prostitution or any other seemingly logical convention of other societies that has no place in modern interpretations of Islam and the States enforcing said interpretations. 

Political Ecology is a confluence of a peoples' traditions, culture, and circumstances, and their statehood or national orientations. The estuary of culture, and law.
